Just like other developing countries, Nigeria is trying to build up her health system but we still have a long way to go bringing it up to par. Thousands of people on the streets of lagos, and indeed in Nigeria as a whole, cannot afford medical care and will remain in their ill health, and even deteriorate, not because their conditions are incurable but because they cannot afford to pay their medical bills.
Edensfield Health Foundation is a medical NGO which provides quality healthcare free of charge to those who cannot afford it, through mass medical missions. In April 2010 we organized a mission in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Health where we attended to 21,070 cases providing free medical, surgical and dental treatment amongst other things. We are set to organise a second event but need about N30 million to successfully implement this project to reach even more people.

2011 November Medical Mission
A second mission is planned within the Ibeju–Lekki axis which is a rather impoverished area where subsistence farming and fishing are the main occupations. A lot is required in terms of funding and equipment to make an impact on healthcare provision in this locality. As a means of achieving this overall goal, Edensfield has committed to renovating and equipping one of the Primary Health Centers (PHCs) within the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area. Ideally, the provision of a medical doctor to work in the PHC in the first year would go a long way in ensuring a reasonable level of healthcare provision.
